The Bowen Association was set up in November 1997 at the request of Oswald and Elaine Rentsch, and is the European arm of the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia. The Association is run by a committee of nine practitioners and Oswald and Elaine Rentsch are also directors.
The aims of the association are to:
- Provide technical and practical support for Bowen therapists and their clients
- Provide a practitioner referral service for the general public
- Increase awareness of the Bowen Technique to the general public and health professionals.
- Increase the skills and knowledge of Bowen practitioners and aid in the development of a deeper understanding of the technique through research.
- Keep at the forefront of current government legislation regarding Complementary Medicine in the UK and Europe and to ensure that practitioners are kept informed of developments in this area.
- Ensure that practitioners adhere to the Association's code of ethics.
- Keep practitioners informed of latest developments through regular newsletters
- Liaise with Bowen Training UK to provide specialist workshops, courses and refreshers for practitioners as well as introductory level courses
