Cerebral Palsy
“My son Charlie has cerebral palsy and has been having Bowen since he was 2 years old. In the beginning Charlie was very weak unable to sit or stand unaided and was extremely shy. Bowen has allowed Charlie to grow and develop without pain. His Dr’s are always very impressed at how flexible Charlie is in relation to his diagnosis of spastic paraplegia and he is now able to walk short distances with his walking frame, sit unaided and has also enabled Charlie to grow into a confident young man. Charlie also suffered with very bad constipation which meant he was on Movical for a period of time. However, Bowen has enabled Charlie to come off his medicine and he now passes stools without discomfort.
Bowen has changed and will continue to help Charlie throughout his life.”

Cerebral Palsy
“Before Bowen treatments Eddie’s general body muscle tone was poor. He was able to support himself in a sitting position but unable to support any weight through his hips and legs. He also suffered with ear infections and colds on a regular basis.
As time has progressed Eddie’s leg muscles are defined and strong and you can visibly see the difference in them. His leg and hip alignment are much better which has contributed in Eddie being able to put weight through his hips into his legs which gives him a straight line for standing now. Eddie’s general understanding has improved and over this period of time many changes have occurred. Although very simple and small things to most people, to us and Eddie these are monumentous improvements. The true testament of this treatment is that for the first time in 6 years Eddie did NOT have to see a GP and have antibiotics to clear his colds.
Eddie has made massive progress since he has been treated using the Bowen Technique.”
Stroke
“I had a stroke in June 2008 resulting in severe motor damage down my right side. My right arm was paralysed for 9 months and when I left hospital/rehab on 29th Jan 2009 I also had very bad drop foot. Over the years my strength has vastly improved due to determination and persistence at doing my own physio. Using a walker puts a lot of strain on all my muscles which is painful. I tried sports massage with no long lasting effects. In 2016 I had 2 Bowen sessions which were so beneficial I continued with them every 2 – 3 weeks. They have greatly improved my general wellbeing. I go in stiff and come out supple. I have had a series of orthotic braces on my right leg with no improvement, however now, with the help of Bowen, I have nearly regained full dorsiflexion and the movement in my right arm has improved greatly. Also, I am able to swim again.”
Parkinsons
“I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in September 2011, although I suffered symptoms for 2-3 years before that.
It was suggested that I try Bowen Therapy to alleviate some of the symptoms. I was more than willing to try anything which might help.
I have been having Bowen for over 6 years now and have never looked back.
After having the therapy I feel the pain in my legs, neck and lower back eases. It has also helped my posture and I get exercises to do in between sessions.
I definitely feel I would be much worse by now, had I not taken advantage of the therapy.”

Parkinsons
“I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in Jan 2017 at the age of 59.
I came across a book by John Coleman in relation to PD, where he extolled the virtues of Bowen therapy. To my amazement I found that there was a therapist within a few miles of my home, at the Parkinson’s Self Help Group (PSHG) in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. My first treatment was in August 2017, and I have been going regularly ever since.
I used to love a firm massage but have now noticed that, while it feels great at the time, I can feel just as stiff again in a day or two. That never happens to me with a Bowen therapy treatment, as the movements are so gentle….but extremely effective. I find the movements so relaxing, and after a treatment my body feels ‘reconnected’.”

Parkinsons
“I was told I had Parkinson’s 16 years ago when I was 55. It was a few years later when I went to my 6 monthly appointment to the NHS Parkinsons clinic when one of the Parkinsons nurse suggested I try Bowen Therapy.
I had never heard of it and I was not sure about it and wasn’t really keen for therapies of any kind. So it was just over 7 years ago now when I decided to give Bowen Therapy a try and made an appointment and I’ve been attending weekly ever since.
There was a period I remember after I’d been attending for about a year that I decided I felt I had stopped feeling the benefits of Bowen Therapy, I felt that my symptoms weren’t improving. But that lasted about 2 weeks and I immediately recognised the ease I actually felt following a Bowen session and recommenced my weekly visits.
I am so glad that I decided back then to give Bowen Therapy a try, I would recommend it to anyone in pain.”

Parkinsons
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 10 years ago, age 55.
Bowen loosens off my muscles (this works over two or three days). Parkinsons causes muscles to lock up and receiving the Bowen settles the muscles again.
If I have not been for two or three weeks I really notice a difference and start to stiffen up. After Bowen muscles ease and loosen – giving me a lot of relief.
I would highly recommend this treatment.
